Extreme Cold Preparedness

As winter approaches, Make sure that you are safe and warm. Here are some key tips to help protect your family during extreme cold weather:

  1. Dress in Layers:Wear multiple layers of clothing, including a hat, gloves, and a scarf. Waterproof boots and a warm coat.

  2. Limit Outdoor Time: Keep outdoor activities short and come inside frequently to warm up.

  3. Stay Informed: Monitor weather forecasts and alerts.

  4. Emergency Kit: Have an emergency kit ready with blankets, extra clothing, and non-perishable snacks.

  5. Recognize Frostbite and Hypothermia: Know the signs of frostbite (numbness, white or grayish-yellow skin) and hypothermia (shivering, confusion, slurred speech). Seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms appear.

  6. Stay Indoors: During extreme cold, stay indoors as much as possible. If you lose power, find a safe, warm place to stay.
