Extreme Heat Preparedness

During extreme heat, it’s crucial to keep safe and comfortable. Here are some key tips:

  1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water/fluids. Avoid sugary and very cold drinks.

  2. Dress Appropriately: Dress  in loose, lightweight, and light-colored clothing.

  3. Find Cool Places: Spend time in air-conditioned spaces like libraries, malls, or community cooling centers.

  4. Limit Outdoor Activities: Schedule outdoor play for cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening.

  5. Know the Signs of Heat Illness: Be aware of symptoms like heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, and seek medical attention if needed.

  6. Never Leave Children in Cars: Even with windows cracked, cars can heat up quickly to dangerous levels.
